My students are awesome! We are an autistic classroom, made up of students in grades 3-5. We have 11 students that have very different and unique needs. Many love the feel of different textures or the visual appeal of glitter and colors. To have these items purchased would help us have our sensory needs met and would help keep us on task. Sometimes we get upset and are unsure how we can calm down. To have some of our favorite items or activities can help us to relax.
My Project
Currently the items we have are provided by myself or were donated by other teachers. We are not able to meet the sensory needs of all my students. These items will help students have what they need. Due to the size of our class and unique needs various sensory items are required. Some items will also be used to help some students clam down when they become upset. Many students are able to fullfill their sensory needs by sorting objects of different shapes, colors, or textures. The multi textured mats have various uses throughout our classroom.
