My incredible students are in grades K-2. They all carry a diagnosis of Autism and more than half are English Language Learners. This specialized classroom is located within a large inner city where resources are extremely limited.
My students often struggle with sensory needs, whether it is the noise in the classroom or feeling dysregulated and needed something to squish.
This project is to provide each student with their own sensory box that has headphones, squishies and a drawing board. As well as a calming tent, sensory find it box and a weighted butterfly vest. All these items will ensure that my students have the tools they need to feel safe and succeed.
