My Project

All students deserve an equal chance to learn to grow and thrive. Students with sensory needs are overwhelmed with bright lights and sounds as soon as they walk into a classroom. This project will meet the sensory needs of students in my classroom by covering the harsh florescent lights with filters that prevent headaches. Students will be able to learn comfortably with their choice of floor seating on a plush rug. It will also provide fidgets for students to meet sensory seeking needs. This project also includes easy to use classroom supplies.

Neurodivergent students have different needs, by providing materials to meet their sensory needs, they are better equipped to meet the academic demands of the classroom.

These tools like markers, puzzles and more can be used to meet those sensory and social emotional needs and help students achieve their academic goals. Many students have additional struggles adapting to the sensory overwhelm experienced in the classroom after years spent distant learning.
