Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help us close the educational gap for my eager students! My diverse class lives in a low income neighborhood. Many of my students did not have the opportunity to go to pre-school. With the high standards today for Kindergarten, it is difficult for students who did not attend pre-school to meet these standards. As their teacher I need to fill the gaps that my students come in with, and I need a lot of efficient materials to do so no time can be wasted in our class! With materials from this project they will develop their literacy skills in order to become successful life long learners and readers.
My students come to school excited to learn each and every day!
I am so excited to see their faces when they receive literacy centers from generous donors. My students will be so grateful for all the new learning materials we will have! With my students' enthusiasm and these new materials we can help close the educational gap for my students and for generations of students that will come into my classroom.
My Project
Students have various learning styles. These activities will be used at centers so that students can learn the alphabet independently according to the individual learning style. Some students learn in a tactile way by tracing letters. Some students learn through listening to sounds and words. Some students learn through rubbing letter formations with crayons. All these ways will support students' learning of the alphabet which is crucial to their learning.
These products will also help students express their learning through various mediums.
They can use stamps or alphabet hold punches. They can listen to words and circle pictures of the answers. Students feel more confident when they can choose how they will show what they know.
Many of these centers will also help students develop their fine motor skills. These skills are necessary for students in reading, math, art and daily live skills.
