This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a K-12 charter school located in Southeast San Diego, CA. The school serves students from low income families. We have a great need for funds to purchase lab equipment, such as sensors to conduct experiments, investigations, and projects.

This project seeks funding to provide much needed equipment for three physics classes, which serve around 90 students.

The equipment will allow students to conduct experiments and investigations with high quality results.

The students are highly motivated and talented. They have been trained with AVID, so they are quiet good at working in teams in a science class. The project will provide the needed measuring equipment for these bright students to gather data and conduct physics investigations.

My Project

This project will provide various sensors so students can investigates phenomena and understand the physics behind them The data will provide rigor, since students will have to analyze and interpret them.

Students can use a sensor to measure light intensity change as a function of distance to investigate the inverse square law.

Such data gathering and analysis provides a concrete way of investigation, with evidence to support the claim.

Students can also use the variety of sensors available to design their own investigations. This skill is highly desired under NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards). Students will gain knowledge and experience of using quality tools that are analogous to what real scientists and engineers use.
