Sensing Our Way to Calm

Help me give my students kinetic sand and hands on sensory materials to help keep everyone engaged.

My Project

My students are amazing! They are eager to learn and participate in new activities, however, a lack of experience and materials will hold them back.

My students are 4 and 5 years old but functioning on the level of 1 year olds.

All of my students have limited social skills and significant language deficits in expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language skills. My students are often frustrated because they cannot communicate their needs and wants. Many times they struggle to keep up with the other students because they do not speak and cannot participate in the same ways. I work tremendously hard to expose them to as many experiences within my means

My students are diagnosed with intellectual disability and autism. They learn and respond positively to a curriculum that is visual, and kinesthetic and allows them to practice their skills repeatedly.

I am requesting sensory friendly materials including kinetic sand, scoopers, squishy noodles, gel pads, and bins to store all of these materials. Students will have access to these materials to help them be calm and to engage them in the lessons.
