My Project
I currently teach three-five year old students with special needs. My students have a range of disabilities from autism, to speech/ language delays, to sensory processing disorders. The school environment can be challenging for my young students as we lack some of the resources they need to receive the sensory input their body's are craving.
Some of my students require a sensory diet which allows them to receive the physical input they need through physical activity and accommodations.
With the addition of the requested supplies, I will be able to provide my students with the opportunity to receive the input their brain is looking for.
The resources will be used in our cozy corner and in a small, designated area near the cubbies, so students have a safe space to move their bodies and release any extra energy they may be carrying. The trampoline is a safe way for students to jump up and down. The compression tunnel is a fun and engaging way for them to receive sensory input in all parts of their bodies. The compression bands will allow them to push with their arms and move their gross motor muscles in their upper body. My students won't even realize they are getting what they need. They will just be having fun which is the best part of learning!
