My Students
The majority of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and 85% qualify for free/reduced-price school lunch. My diverse kindergartners represent a plethora of cultures and linguistic backgrounds, and all of them have something special to share with us!
Our diverse kindergarten classroom is filled with energetic and eager learners ready to learn!
My students are Arabic, Black, Caucasian, Egyptian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese/Vietnamese, Italian/Chinese, and Polish/Chinese. We are learning to be safe, responsible, and respectful in our classroom and school!
My Project
The sensory cushion will be used by students on the rug and their desk seats. These bumpy cushions will give students the sensory input and positive option to move in a seated position. This will help them focus better and listen longer with attentiveness!
Students will be given many opportunities to share, verbalize, and work through their range of moods and emotions through games, questions, and emotion coloring sheets.
The emotion cards, games, books, and color books will be used by the whole class to manage their emotions. The cards and games will be used during Community Circle time to introduce and share emotions. The highlighters and stickers will be used to draw and highlight emotions of my students. The organizers will be used to create a visual emotion chart.
The Dr. Seuss books will be read aloud and students can read them independently or with a partner to build on reading fluency. The Dr. Seuss books will motivate students to incite humor in their writing and build on working through different emotions.
