Help me give my students the potential to develop sensible leadership skills through a close read of Richard Adams' Watership Down. Other titles are meant to provide fast readers with options.

My Project
The materials in my project are all books for my city classroom and my diverse student population. A class set of Watership Down by Richard Adams has the potential to shape future leaders for service by providing the content needed for the unit. The story structure illuminates a cultural allegory that provides much needed fodder for nuanced classroom discussion.
Politics, religion, self-awareness, and moral courage emerge as themes for the engaged reader of this high-adventure allegory.
And student revelation leads to meaningful expression for high school students developing identity. The possibility for further research on language and other literary elements could extend the unit to 8 weeks.
