My Project
As a teacher, I am always striving to improve my practice so I can deliver the best education possible to my students. This summer I am hoping to participate in a professional development opportunity to deepen my understanding of notebooking in science. This training builds off a notebooking course I completed last summer and will enhance my ability to incorporate phenomena and promote sense-making in the classroom. By participating in this advanced training, I will gain new strategies and insights into effectively integrating science notebooks into our curriculum, ensuring that students can fully explore and understand scientific concepts. These notebooks will become a vital tool where students create initial and final models, explore phenomena, and process their thinking, allowing them to engage deeply with the material as they act as scientists.
Incorporating science notebooks not only supports students' understanding of scientific concepts but also promotes essential literacy skills.
As students document their observations, write explanations, and reflect on their learning, they develop stronger communication and critical thinking abilities. This method of learning transforms the way students interact with science, making it more interactive and student-centered. Your support in funding this project will equip me with the knowledge and tools needed to implement these strategies effectively, ultimately fostering a richer, more engaging learning environment for all my students.
