My Students

I have the most wonderful, energetic students that I have every taught. I have a very diverse classroom. I teach a classroom with 20 general education students and 10 special need students. We are loud and fun. We have made so much progress this year, This class has a thirst for knowledge.

I serve a low income population in my classroom.

We have lots of ideas and talk about lots of things, but we are struggling to fund some of the materials to give my students diverse experiences.

My Project

Some of my students have autism and other sensory issues, they need to have more experiences with tactile materials, I am hoping that this will create different experiences for them. Many of them do not like to touch anything that feels different. I am hoping that this will help to broaden their horizons and they can have fun at the same time.

I have one special needs child who LOVES dinosaurs.

He knows the names of all the dinosaurs, but rarely speaks to anyone in the classroom. I am hoping that by putting the dinosaurs and sand together at the sensory table, he will begin having conversations with other students.
