My Students

My students are all unique in many ways. Some are good listeners. Some try extremely hard. Some have behavior problems. Some need reminding to focus. And some need accommodations. But they can all learn and given the appropriate accommodations, technology and tools, they can all be successful.

My students try hard but school work is not always easy and many need accommodations to help them accomplish success.

Our school is a Title I middle school comprised of students from four neighboring elementary schools. We are close to a large military base, but many of our students live in economically challenged neighborhoods.

Everything is not rosy, but there is a lot of caring and dedicated teachers who have devoted their time and effort to our students. Besides strong highly-effective teachers, our school has 100 students in Special Education and 44 English Language Learners. They require interventions to be successful and exposure to a wide variety of learning activities/tools to encourage each student's success.

My Project

These supplies will provide our classroom with materials that will make classroom management easier.

Since my students come from lower economic backgrounds, they can't supply needed materials, so this project will help our classroom run smoothly.

My SPED students need headphones with a microphone because many of them have difficulty successfully writing or typing, so this device allows them to speak their answers and the computer types what they say. It's also a way for them to be independent. The Expo marker cleaner helps our whiteboards last longer because we can get them clean. The jumbo colored Sharpie markers allow me to make classroom posters of ELA and Math strategies that I hang in my room as a teaching tool. The black and blue Pentel gel pens I will use when I do my special education documentation and required paperwork. Finally, the binders and folders will be used to hold student work and required special education documentation.
