My Project

Self-contained classrooms are often stigmatized around children who “can’t” do things. Not in our classroom! In our classroom we have a built a community of love and learning and my students special needs are not their “disabilities” but rather, their unique qualities. My students are never a “label” and I strive everyday to ensure they know how truly incredible they are.

In this class, we accept each other’s differences because they are in fact what make us unique and special.

I have high yet attainable expectations for my students and as they persevere to meet their highest potential, they begin to realize if you work hard and try your best, anything is possible. The work we do in our classroom is so much more about academics. We learn the importance of building positive relationships, creating a safe and inclusive environment, and most of all, always reaching for the stars!

Within our classroom, there are a variety of learners and my goal is to ensure that each child has the tools to meet their goals! In order to make learning accessible to all the learners within my classroom, we are in desperate need of sensory materials that will provide the children with items, such as, sensory rings and rainbow liquid viewers to help regulate their emotions and sensory letter centers where they can learn the alphabet which ultimately helps students feel comfortable taking risks and feel safe learning. Having a safe and comfortable learning space for my students has always been my number one priority, and now more than ever, students need classrooms where they feel safe. Please help me help my students have a safe sensory space they can not only learn in, but can call their second home!
