My Project
We are a fun school that loves to host many wonderful school wide events. While these events are meant to be nothing but fun, for some of our amazing OT students, these experiences are filled with many sensory challenges that can overwhelm them. This could turn a fun day at school into a day filled with stress, and sometimes even tears. I’ve found that especially post pandemic, students are not as ready to filter through and regulate all of the sensory input they receive on a daily basis at school. This leads to challenges with learning, focusing, safety, developing friendships, and managing their emotions. Tool, such as the pressure vest and yogibo, will provide deep pressure and comfort to each student. The vibrating tube and theraputty will help students gain hand strength while incorporating different sensations. All of these tools will help students learn how to better understand their bodies, and how to manage different sensory inputs so they can enjoy school and learn to the fullest.
