My students need plastic sensory noodles, pellets, and balls. They need feel and find letters, numbers and shapes tubs, and kinetic sand for new exploration.
My special needs students require different types of sensory input. We need durable materials in various sizes, shapes and colors. I am asking for feel and find plastic beads, pellets and noodles that contain letters and shapes along with kinetic sand. Thank you for helping my special kiddos.
My students are the youngest in our school.
They are ages 3 - 5 and for many of them, this is their first time in a school setting. Since I am their first teacher, I consider myself to be the gateway for their academic success. I want them to love school and be lifelong learners. All students in my class have qualified based on being a child with a disability. The disabilities my students have range from mild to severe. Due to their delays, learning can be a struggle so I try to make it as fun and inviting as I can so that my kiddos want to learn. My school has a large percentage of poverty, but you would never know it by our students. They are so eager to be at school and learn.
My Project
The majority of my students have sensory processing disorders that can make them crave sensory input or make them tactile defensive. They require sensory breaks throughout the day. I am always looking for ways to integrate academic learning with their sensory needs. I am asking for feel and find plastic beads, pellets, and noodles that can be washed for repeated uses. I am also asking for feel and find tubs that contain letters, number and shapes with different tactile materials. The colored sand that never dries will be a great way for the students to explore items and materials to help build their vocabulary. The materials I am requesting will help all of my students learn in the unique ways that they desire.
My students sensory needs go beyond the sand table.
They need sensory input that incorporates academic learning. The diverse sensory materials in this project will allow my students to explore many of the materials we already have in our classroom in new, exciting, and inviting ways. These materials will fulfill the sensory input that my students with sensory processing disorder require.
