My students need 2 Chromebook computers for our classroom in order to publish writing pieces, read online books, and complete math and reading activities.
My classroom is a very open, welcoming, and busy place. It is full of inquisitive boys and girls who are eager to learn. They love to read, write and complete all sorts of math activities. All of my students are constantly trying to grow academically, socially, and behaviorally.
I am a second grade teacher with 20 wonderful students, all of whom enjoy school in one way or another.
I have watched my boys and girls grot this year from shy, small students, to eager, outspoken and smart individuals.
I teach at a Title 1 school which has many deficits, one being lack of technology. I had always dreamed that by working at a Title 1 school, that would mean we had a plethora of resources, and in some academic areas we do! One thing we continue to lack is enough technology to compete with the 21st century skills needed in today's society.
My Project
By receiving two Chromebooks, my students will be able to access learning in new ways. They will be able to publish the writing they do all year, and see how the writing process can really come to life. They will also be able to access reading programs such as Raz-Kids and Compass Learning to increase their reading fluency and comprehension. Lastly, they will learn and be able to use programs such as PowerPoint and Google slides to create presentations on topics learned in all subject areas throughout the year. They will learn fundamentals of computer literacy while also increasing knowledge of all academic skills.
These Chromebooks will absolutely make my students day!
Not only will they have access to more technology during the school day, but they will gain computer knowledge that will impact them throughout their life.
This donation will greatly impact my students who do not have access to technology outside of the classroom, as it will provide the opportunity to increase skills in all subject areas during the school day.
