Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students in Soledad are eager, driven, and enthusiastic about their learning, ever curious about the world around them with eager anticipation to explore it.
About 80% of our students are English learners and come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Many of the opportunities provided at school are the one chance students have to experience such events. The possibilities given through their education at school are thus special and motivational.
With a majority of our families living below the poverty line, many parents who would love to provide tools and opportunities for their children are not able to do so. They rely on the school system to provide food, care, and support for them. We as teachers are trusted to provide this, even if some needs are not part of the job description.

My Project
Students in our classroom come from diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Resources are starved in our community due to the various needs, and students with special needs that in many cases have yet to be identified find themselves coexisting in a classroom with the general population.
Your generosity in assisting our children will provide them with an inclusive, safe haven that will accommodate to the greatest extent possible all learning styles, providing scaffolds that eliminate barriers to their learning.
Osmos will allow students to interact with phonics and math skills, simultaneously exercising 21st Century technological interactions and preparing a coding workforce set to tackle future industries. Whiteboard paddles will facilitate collaborative conversations, lesson interactions, handwriting, and confidence in public speaking.
In conjunction with these, sensory toys will allow for tactile exploration and imaginative relaxation at a Sensory Station set to accommodate an inclusive learning environment. Students will then become involved in a classroom that is sensitive to and meets the needs of the broadest range of students possible. In other words, these items are like a ramp that replaces stairs; while not all can use stairs, everyone can use a ramp!
