My students need hands on literacy games, activities and manipulatives for center time.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Kindergarten students love to explore, discover and learn new things daily. My classroom is student centered. If you came to visit, you would observe children working collaboratively on purposeful tasks, talking and learning from one another.
No two students enter a classroom with identical abilities, experiences and needs.
Learning style, language proficiency, background knowledge, readiness to learn and other factors can vary widely within a single class. Regardless of their individual differences, students are expected to master the same concepts, principals and skills.
Helping all students succeed in their learning is an enormous challenge that requires innovative thinking. Kindergarten is such a magical grade to teach. Children are becoming students for the first time and their enthusiasm and love for learning is contagious.
My K students attend a title one school in a high poverty area. 100%of my students qualify for free breakfast, snack and lunch. Our district has seen great upheaval over the past few years. Severe budget cuts have been made across the board, including funds for basic supplies.
My Project
Learning centers can help meet the diverse needs and skill levels of my students. Children learn by doing. In my classroom, centers is a time for learning and playing to happen simultaneously. The materials requested will greatly help my students get more involved with their learning. These tools will assist students with blending and building cvc words, writing and practicing sight words. Using the materials requested, students can manipulate sounds and build words with magnetic letters, play sight word games to reinforce high frequency words and create and read sentences to build fluency and comprehension. The center materials I am requesting will help students acquire necessary skills and reinforce essential literacy concepts.
Literacy centers offer meaningful experiences where students work independently or collaboratively to meet literacy goals.
Students in my classroom vary greatly in their literacy needs and ability levels. As a result, it is necessary to provide multiple opportunities for students to read, write, participate in meaningful experiences, and collaborate with others so they can develop their ability to read and comprehend texts.
Learning centers will help me meet the diverse needs of my students.
