My students need the supplies to continue being successful. The "Brother Printer" by far is the most important resource, without this I can not supply necessary adapted learning materials for each student.
Ready! Set! Learn!... I am a 7th and 8th grade special education teacher, I co-teach with a 7th grade group and an 8th grade group, I also teach one self-contained class of 8th graders. My students are highly motivated by hands-on activities and experiments. Many of my students are visual learners, and they benefit from lessons that contain both verbal direction and teachings as well as activities that let them experience the learned information first hand.
I enjoy planning lessons that allow them to experience things within the safety of our classroom.
Together, my students learn to work with their peers on various projects, as well as independently to achieve their personal academic goals. They are challenged each and every day to reach for success, and at this point in the year, they are ready for and accept the challenge.
Many of my students are from other countries and or lower-income homes. Many students are acting guardians for their younger siblings while parents work multiple jobs. It is my goal to help provide a stress-free learning environment for my students. Being able to provide basic supplies and more for my students is "school" life-changing for many.
My Project
In an inner city school where supplies are limited, and student home funds are even more limited, it would be an asset to be able to provide materials and resources to these students to use in the classroom. I am requesting a printer and ink, scissors, glue, pencils and a storage cabinet to use in my 8th grade science room. My students are hands on learners and enjoy learning through projects and class experiments.
Having a working printer and craft supplies would give life to the projects that my students work so hard on.
As a special education teacher, having a printer would allow my students to print homework, projects, reports and exams right in the room. Supplies such as scissors, glue and pencils will allow us to continue learning life science through hands on experiments and projects that bring these topics to life. It is also important to have a safe place to secure these needed supplies and that is why my class is also requesting a storage cabinet. Keeping our supplies safe and accessible for the students.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
