This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Ninety percent of our amazing students live below or near the poverty line. About 60% of our students are learning English in school. Sometimes our school struggles to get the resources we need to teach and care for our incredible students. This makes the job of a school even more important.
Many students we teach experience poverty, but that's just where they are starting.
Our students love to create art and read. They write computer code and even perform Shakespeare. They have big dreams, and let's help them reach for those dreams!
My Project
Many of my students come from homes where they have what they need, but the truth is some don't. Some of my students come to school in the wintertime wearing flip flops. Some kids walk around with holes in their shoes. One little boy came to school wearing his mother's shoes, laced up tight, because he didn't have anything else. With your help, we can change this.
Let's be sure every kid has a pair of shoes!
By supporting this project, you will be sending us a huge box of brand new shoes - shoes that kids can walk to school in, play during recess in, and be proud of. Shoes are such a simple thing, but they will make a huge difference for kids!
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
