Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing learners. They have a deep appreciation for learning. As English Language Learners, my students are constantly soaking up the English language through speaking, writing, listening, and reading comprehension. I have been teaching for about 10 years, and I want to further build connections with literacy skills for my students. I love how I am able to make connections with reading, writing, and other subjects with my students. However, I want to continue to develop my practices as a teacher to make learning more authentic for my students.

My Project

Using strategies and activities I have learned from the teacher's conference, I plan to develop engaging and interactive lessons that bring literacy and social studies together. In addition, I want to increase my knowledge of celebrating diversity in my classroom and by attending this conference I will attend sessions on student engagement and promoting diversity. By seeing concrete examples of good social studies practices, I can gain a deeper knowledge of my curriculum and strengthen my lessons in the classroom.

By attending this conference my students will have a more authentic and valuable experience when it comes to social studies in my classroom.

Not only will I be able to find ways to meet the literacy needs of the students in my classroom, but I will also be able to promote the value and importance of diversity in my classroom. It is my hope that by attending this conference, my students will gain a deeper connection and sense of respect for one another in relation to diversity while exploring literacy and social studies.
