My Project
Our KES School Counseling program is dedicated to empowering young minds, fostering their creativity, and equipping them with the skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly complex world.
We are excited to launch a new initiative aimed at integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education with SEL principles.
Our goal is to provide students with hands-on STEM building kits that not only spark curiosity and critical thinking but also encourage cooperation, collaboration, and resilience. These kits are designed to help children build strong social and emotional skills by engaging in group projects that require teamwork, communication, and problem-solving—essential competencies for success in both school and life.
The benefits of incorporating STEM learning into SEL are profound. As children work together to build, troubleshoot, and problem-solve, they naturally develop skills in:
Cooperation: By collaborating on challenges, children learn to share ideas and support one another.
Frustration Tolerance: STEM projects often require persistence, helping children build resilience and the ability to manage frustration and setbacks.
Collaboration: Children gain a sense of responsibility for both their individual contributions and the success of the group, fostering teamwork and mutual respect.
Communication: Clear expression of ideas and listening to others becomes critical in group projects, strengthening their social interactions and emotional intelligence.
This project will allow us to purchase high-quality, age-appropriate STEM building kits for our KES students. With these kits, we will not only engage children in exciting learning experiences but also help them cultivate the emotional skills necessary to navigate challenges both in and outside of the classroom.
