Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Self-regulation is one's ability to control one's thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Self-regulation can facilitate academic performance by helping students to control their behaviors during instructions, actively monitor their emotions (including worry and anxiety), and modify their learning strategies. Tactile tools such as sensory strips, gel pads, and liquid hourglass tools can help students regulate their emotions and behaviors.

Your support of this project can help me empower my students by providing self-regulation tools that can support their implementation of independent calming strategies and develop their social-emotional skills for life.

Students are able to better learn about their needs and how to address them when they are provided tools that directly relate to their needs.

As a school psychologist, I provide explicit instruction of age-appropriate calming techniques and with Elementary school students I find that tactile tools greatly support student understanding of self-calming strategies as well as foster active participation and implementation of self-regulation.
