This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We believe self-regulating skills are essential for maintaining positive mental health. We are leading a student led community project to help empower and educate students within the school manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in a way that promotes well-being. A group of students who have personally benefited from self-regulatory watches (wearable devices designed to track emotions, stress levels, and mindfulness habits) are ready to introduce them to our school community in grades 2nd-6th. Allstate we would love your support in getting more self regulating watches on campus.
We plan to have student leaders who have used the watches share their personal benefits of using technology for self-regulation and how it helped manage anxiety, stay focused, and/or build healthier routines.
This project allows our volunteers to take action and teach other interested participants about how the watch helped him/her by sharing their personal experience, how to use it, how to set goals, etc....Each volunteer will be buddied with an interested student from our school community for this project to help set them up for success.
With these watches interested participants can learn more about....
1. How can I self-regulate for better Mental Health?
2. How can I practice mindfulness to stay present and aware of emotions during the school day?
3. How can I use breathing techniques to calm my nervous system?
4. How can I set realistic goals and break tasks into manageable steps each day?
By having student leaders introduce and advocate for these watches, the project not only promotes mental health awareness but also empowers youth to take an active role in their well-being and support their peers through this student led community service project led by students and for students.
