Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the most caring students! They are hard working students who come from diverse homes. They take pride in their school work. My students are my passion and drive to work hard for them because I know they deserve it. I love working at my school because they care about the students and their teachers.
My students deserve the best and it is my job to seek out other opportunities to help in their learning!
I want to give my students all the tools they need to become critical thinkers as well as a space conducive to learning. I want to give my students to have a world class classroom. I want to create model citizens that will be going out in the world making it better for everyone.
We have started to see a new trend in our schools that involves social emotional skills. I am concerned about my students and would like to give them a space where they can feel comfortable. Students need a comfortable area where they can reflect and use this section to use calming techniques. It is something that teachers need to have in order to have a high functioning classroom.
My Project
The items I have selected are meant to help them self regulate their emotions. I have a sound machine that will have soothing sounds. The digital WiFi photo frame will be displaying calming images. I also have stress balls, coloring books, other sensory items, some restful bean chairs, and an aromatherapy oil diffuser that will have a lavender scent.
A child's social emotional development motivates them to learn critical skills such as the ability to communicate, connect with others, resolve conflict, self regulate, display kindness and empathy and cope with challenges.
Without cognitive, social, and emotional self control in the classroom, learning cannot occur. Students will be able to use these items to help them in a calm and productive way.
