This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My ELL students need engaging easy reading books to read alone or with a partner. They love reading stories about Pete the Cat. They find the stories fun and entertaining and they are able to use newly acquired phonics and vocabulary words that are part of the books. They also need 3 ring binders to help them track their individual progress as they read. The binders will prepare a way for them to easily keep organized and on track as they read and respond and chart their progress.
Students who practice reading alone or with a partner develop reading skills that will help them improve acquisition of English.
My goals for this project are to motivate students to read on their own when they have extra time. My students are special because of their desire to learn. Learning a second language is a challenge and especially challenging when you are surrounded by people speaking a language you don't understand yet. This will help them acquire the language in a fun and self-paced way.
