This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My girls are beautiful, bold, and smart! Having these yoga mats, balls, and journals, will help me transform my classroom environment into a calming space where we can discuss daily issues that my girls face, during our weekly Girls. Inc. meetings. Middle school is a tough transitioning stage. I will be teaching my girls the importance of physical activities, positive body images, nutrition, and stress management. In order to do so, I am requesting these materials to use as tools to run the yoga portion of the classes and well as the reflection part, via journalling.

Girls deserve a supportive environment for developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and they deserve to be involved in decisions about their health.

I hope to achieve this and more by empowering these girls to believe in themselves and take care of themselves. I want to provide my girls with a variety of tools and resources such as yoga mats, journals and balls to guide them in addressing their needs. As well as, leaving them with the message that "little girls with big dreams, become women with visions."
