My students are rural students who love to be up and moving in the classroom, using technology/media when learning, being acknowledged for their achievements (great or small), and interacting with each other. I am a school counselor who travels between two small schools serving all students in kindergarten through fifth grade. They come to me as a whole class for 30-45 minutes each week. Some students also come to me for individual and small group instruction.
My students learn about tolerance, acceptance, careers, leadership, and academic success.
My Project
According to WikiPedia, "psychologist Albert Bandura has defined self-efficacy as one's belief in one's ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task. One's sense of self-efficacy can play a major role in how one approaches goals, tasks, and challenges." These books and bucket cut-outs are to be added to projects for first and second grades on improving my students belief in self and self-esteem.
Second grades will follow Stuey Lewis as he grows in self acceptance and realizes that you don't have to be the best, and even if you are the worst at something, you are still a special person.
First grades will learn to fill their buckets (their emotional self) by being kind to others.
