As a physical education teacher battling the constant rise of screen time and inactivity among our youth, I find my students constantly needing actives that will stimulate their mind and body. However, my students face outside limitations that prevent them from experiencing these things. My students live in one the most expensive cities in the world, but come from families lacking resources to participate in these needed activities. Most of my students receive a free or reduced lunch, based on their socioeconomic status. Despite these challenges, I want to provide students with a physical and engaging learning experience.
These students need accessibility to activities that push their cardiovascular fitness to new levels.
Through a constant push of cardio fitness, I've seen higher focus rates and increased test scores. However, students don't always enjoy running around the black top every week. I believe students are more likely to continue running when it's exciting and memorable just as adults do. Currently, most students don't have the resources to join a fun themed run outside of school. What students can't afford outside school should not be barriers for potential life long interest. They should see how much fun running can be.
My students need activities that will keep them consistently focused and stimulated. They will use this equipment during the physical education classes at least once a week. Our students will use the boxing pads to protect their hands and body from scraping against the pads. The body pads will provide students with the opportunity to use their legs, knees and elbows for striking.
Through constant movement and hitting the target, students will increase their heart rates, develop foot, hand eye coordination and reduce chances of developing type two diabetes.
Each student will be able to work at a station and reduce sitting/waiting time. Your generosity will provide these students with a chance to participate in activities that would otherwise be economically out of their families' financial ability. Your donation promotes youth to be lifelong healthy individuals.
