Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My PreK-8th grade students LOVE books and reading, and I want to encourage them to pursue their personal interests and passions while checking out books. After having limited access to the school library over the past 2 years, they are so excited to begin picking out their own books to take home!
Book borrowing and self-checkout allow students to develop responsible behaviors, decision-making skills, and independence, all while increasing student excitement for reading.
To create a self-checkout station, we need a scanners and library cards. The requested materials will allow us to create student library cards, keep them organized by grade and homeroom, and empower students to scan their books and library cards independently.
