My Students

I am a school counselor who serves students from the side of Chicago which is considered a poverty-stricken area. Our students deal with a great deal of challenges at home. Sometimes they may need a hug to get through a tough time or situation because of the violence within their community. My students show up to school eager to learn and determine to be the best scholars. However, our school is one place where they feel safe and to know that they can express themselves.

I love their resilience and their eagerness to learn!

My Project

These materials will help my students mentally, emotionally, and physically. My students will be able to build confidence as they express themselves through their art on canvases. In addition, this project will give them a space to where they can have the freedom to express their ideas and thoughts to work creatively. The physical equipments will help my students work and play together in a fun healthy way. This is another way to help them with their well-being to improve health and happiness. It's my goal to help them release anxiety, stress, and feel good about coming to school during this unprecedented times.
