This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 1st grade Hawks soar into our school every day, eager to start our day and find out what we get to explore next. I love having the opportunity to greet them at our door every day.
I look forward to these materials bringing many more light bulb moments to our class and seeing their faces elated from learning.
My students enjoy being exposed to unique, challenging and targeted learning experiences. We believe in having a growth mindset each day! This growth mindset helps us look at each situation as an opportunity to grow and learn more!
My Project
With your donation to this project, I will be able to pay for books and lesson plans that can help kids work through their feelings.
The selected titles are all SEL-social and emotional learning (SEL) is an integral part of education and health development.
SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. The lesson manuals have structured plans to facilitate student social-emotional development at school.
For example, students will learn to identify different feelings and action steps when they are in a specific feeling. Utilizing words to identify feelings will help students take ownership of their feelings and what to do next. Having students listen to real-life scenarios to problem solve will help them be more prepared for when they come across a similar situation in real life. The feelings books and lesson plans will enhance our social-emotional learning time in class.
