This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with at-risk readers implementing an Orton-Gillingham based literacy program. I strive to create a supportive, motivating, and caring environment. Connecting to children is crucial to helping at-risk learners. Often times children know that grade-level academics are challenging and unfortunately this takes a toll on their self-esteem. The Lakeshore Growth Mindset daily practice, Theo’s Mood storytelling kit, Peaceful kids yoga mat kit, and literacy centers kits will help keep my students engaged, motivated, and positive. My goal is to help instill a love of self, learning, and motivate learners to reach their goals despite the challenges.
