SEL in the Makerspace

My Students

Over the past two years, the students at my high school have bravely navigated through the COVID pandemic and have learned a lot about themselves and the world around them. They have dealt with trauma and loss, and they have continued to show up every day to continue to succeed.

Students at my high school have expressed the need for a space where they can go to decompress and learn more about their SEL needs.

We are looking to purchase flexible seating, self-help books, fidgets, puzzles, and coloring materials for them to take a brain break and to make a space where they can just be in the Media Center.

My Project

Students in my school have requested a Wellness Corner, or a space where they can go to relax, that will be in the media center. Throughout the day, they don't have many spaces they can just go to for comfort and to decompress. We all need a break sometimes and this corner will be a way for students to get the break that they need.

With games and puzzles that will build on collaboration, flexible seating, and individual fidgets and art projects - all students will find a cozy home in the Media Center.
