Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will provide social emotional learning (SEL) books and evidence-based calming tools to help children develop vital emotional regulation skills. With increasing rates of anxiety, behavioral challenges, and emotional dysregulation in early childhood settings, the need for intentional SEL support is urgent. These items will foster resilient, confident, and emotionally equipped learners—children who are better prepared to thrive both inside and outside the library resource center (LRC).

This project aims to place high-quality, age-appropriate SEL resources into the hands of young learners and their educators.

These books offer stories and characters that model empathy, self-awareness, and constructive emotional expression—foundational skills for long-term mental wellness and academic success. Complementing this literary approach, the project includes calming tools such as fidget items, emotional learning manipulatives, and mindfulness visuals, all of which offer children safe and accessible strategies to de-escalate strong emotions and regain focus.

By integrating SEL books with tangible self-regulation tools, library services can create a holistic approach to behavior management that empowers children with the lifelong ability to understand and manage their emotions. Your support will directly impact and provide materials in an under-resourced early education environment.
