This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am reaching out to seek your support for an essential initiative within our District's Extended Learning Opportunity Program. Our aim is to provide enriching educational experiences for students in grades TK-2nd across Title 1 Schools who are currently not meeting grade level standards.
We believe that fostering social-emotional development is crucial for the holistic growth of our young learners.
To achieve this, we are seeking funding for three impactful books: "I Can Help," "In My Heart," and "I Can Feel." These books are carefully selected to address and nurture the emotional well-being of our students.
Trained educators will conduct interactive reading sessions using these books, engaging students in discussions about empathy, kindness, and understanding emotions. These books will be seamlessly integrated into our curriculum to complement existing lessons, ensuring a holistic approach to education that goes beyond traditional academic subjects.
Through the exploration of characters and narratives, students will develop a deeper understanding of their own emotions and those of others. Research consistently shows that students with strong social-emotional skills perform better academically. By addressing emotional well-being, we aim to positively impact overall academic achievement. These books emphasize important values such as empathy, inclusivity, and cooperation. Our students will learn the importance of understanding and respecting differences, creating a more harmonious learning environment.
