I am a School Social Worker at a new school and am starting fresh. I'm hoping to build my office space into the ultimate safe space for my students so they feel welcomed, and as though they belong. I want to transform my office into a space students feel comfortable talking to me and learning calming, and coping skills. My goal is to build up my resources to better serve my students during individual and group sessions.
I started working at this new school in February of this year and have been able to start groups with many of my students that target social and emotional skills.
These students display a high need for mental stability and healing. My goal is to encourage students to learn about mental health, learn about skills they can use to improve their mental health and implement coping skills throughout the day. Lastly, I want to help my students succeed in school by providing whatever resources they may need throughout the school day. I'd like to keep snacks on hand for those that may miss breakfast or struggle with hunger during the day or may have food scarcity at home.
