Help me give my students tools that will support them in developing self-regulation strategies and language that will become their inner speech for self-control, emotional well-being, empathy, and healing for the rest of their lives.
I am a 2nd-grade teacher at a Title I-funded school in Wyoming. My students have a range of academic, social, and emotional needs. I believe that in order for students to meet their full potential, they have to be comfortable, have fun, and love what they are doing. We do some pretty crazy things in our classroom for the love of learning! On any given day, we have dance parties on our desks, play games that reinforce learning, and apply our growth-mindset thinking. We sure have a blast!
My students are awesome human beings, and they inspire me daily!
They are kind, caring, and love to learn. They help me to be my best possible self, every day. I would do anything for them! Together, we are changing the world.
My Project
The Feeling Buddies Classroom Kit will make a huge difference in my students' social and emotional well being. They will be especially helpful for supporting students who have experienced trauma. These tools will empower my students to develop self-regulation strategies, positive inner speech, and empathy for others.
My 2nd graders have never experienced a "normal" school year because of the COVID-19 pandemic and this is becoming more and more evident.
I have many students who are unable to cope with their emotions or use self-regulation strategies. These tools will support me in teaching them how to do this.
Feeling Buddies will help me build a caring community of learners in my classroom. These students are our future and I want to do everything I can to empower them in building a caring community beyond just school.
