My Project

The last couple of years have been trying for the entire school community. Between virtual learning and the task of creating more distance between students in already crowded classrooms. Teachers have had to come up with ways to keep normalcy, engagement, and attention to students' social/emotional health. The items on my list address all of these.

Creating an environment that allows for authentic interactions and meaningful conversations is what is helping us get through these interesting times.

We've adapted to playing board games spaced out and fully sanitized. This interaction allows kids to develop their social skills, feel good about being with friends, and up the anty with friendly competition. I chose caddy's so that each student has their own set of materials, neatly organized at their desk, also a visual aid for me to ensure each child has the necessary materials for that day's lesson. Manipulatives and fidgets because we are lacking hands on learning tools and are unable to share, colorful classroom decor to boost mood and encourage positive thinking and mindfulness. Lastly, a vacuum cleaner as Covid has left us short handed, our classrooms need vacuuming every day, this helps our school community by us taking on the responsibility of keeping our own spaces clean.

We work diligently and efficiently in our room. Our Treasure chest is a reward at the end of the week. Supplying our students with the items from my list, will help me provide the best environment recovering from the uncertainty Covid brought to our schools.
