My Students

The students that are in my classroom come from a culturally diverse, urban area of Iowa. There are many ethnicities at our school, with a large population of English Language Learners. My students come to school every day to feel loved and supported while they a quality education; they show up ready to learn and have fun! I want my students to be academically, emotionally, and socially ready for life, and I can help them with this through the way I teach literacy and social studies.

Currently, our classroom library is not representative of the students and is not engaging.

Our books are falling apart and they lack a good variety to match their reading levels. With a new classroom library, students will be able to have enriching experiences through quality literature at school. Students will have more opportunities to become better readers when they have access to books that are a better representation of their cultures and that are of high interest to them. The best part is: success in reading leads to success in all other areas of learning as well!

My Project

The materials I've selected in this project will help students have a fresh start to the school year with a fully stocked classroom of supplies. Buying school supplies can be a challenge for some families so having supplies readily available to students will ensure they all get to be successful in their learning.

Students get oh-so excited to use new pens, pencils, and markers while engaging in their work.

My students and I would greatly appreciate new supplies to kickoff the 2021-22 school year! We can't wait for an awesome year. Thank you!
