FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Long's classroom raised $735

My Students
I oversee the virtual learning platform at our school which serves over 800 of the 1776 currently enrolled students at our school. They are enrolled in a variety of courses to earn credits for almost every course that is also offered in person as well as some only offered virtually. Many students are now working to recover credits in courses that they missed due to the pandemic.
My students have a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
Some are intrinsically motivated and set high expectations for themselves. Other students struggle with school work and may be working to recover a credit in order to meet graduation requirements. My students are involved in athletics, including football, baseball, basketball, track, soccer, softball, tennis, swim, and volleyball. Some students are members of the National Honor Society and other advanced programs. As the yearbook advisor, I also oversee the yearbook staff and their work on generating this product.
Our high school serves neighborhood and magnet students. In the 20-21 year, 55% of 1779 students received free/ reduced price lunch.
My Project
To help motivate students and encourage them to meet their goals, I provide certificates of recognition when they meet course requirements or make progress toward extracurricular goals. Certificates are displayed in the classrooms to celebrate their accomplishments. Certificates provide a colorful addition to the computer labs where virtual students meet daily and they contribute to the positive atmosphere of our classroom.
Using the color printer, students can also print their work in a final published format and include their work samples in a portfolio for prospective colleges, internships, and employers.
Additionally, yearbook students print and preview potential layouts and use printed drafts for editing and proofing their work.
Finally, a color printer would offer us an in-house printing option for school projects, including flyers, brochures, or other materials to promote our school and showcase student work.
