Seeing Ourselves In Others Using Scholastic Art Magazines
Help me give my students Scholastic Art Magazines to broaden student understandings of art and artists from diverse backgrounds, regions, and time periods.
My students are creative middle schoolers who are interested in exploring the world of art. Students manipulate a variety of media in our classroom as they find a variety of solutions to challenges they approach with visual answers.
Our school is a great place for learning, and I am proud of the accomplishments of our students, which include recognition at local, state, and national competitions.
In addition to achieving this success, my students are interested in giving back to the community through a variety of service-learning projects.
My Project
Scholastic Art Magazines are an amazing tool to connect students with artists from a variety of time periods and regions around the world. By having a subscription for our classroom students, we will be able to better understand art and artists and the reasons humans have been involved in art making since the beginning of recorded history.
Scholastic Art Magazines offer a diverse range of artists from all over the world, helping student make connections and see themselves in others' experiences.
One of the most powerful parts of viewing art is recognizing the emotions and feelings being expressed and understanding that we are not alone in how we feel. I look forward to using this resource in my classroom to help illustrate how art is used as a bridge builder and communication tool that helps us make connections with others.
