Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a diverse city background. Many of them live in low income housing and only benefit from what their school and teachers provide within their classroom. Having 88% of my class being English Language learners, the need for visuals and models during each lesson is crucial for their success. During the course of our day, my students benefit from highly engaging resources during lessons. One of them being anchor charts. My love for drawing and making these charts is something not only me but my students enjoy seeing daily. These charts are used for all lessons. Many of my students will benefit from using tools & manipulative strategies for all subjects. This project will help provide the funding necessary for prepping, planning and implementing specific visuals to accommodate the needs of my second language learners in all areas. The technology provided will ensure best success and distraction while reading and rest taking.
My Project
By having a stable, small white board, students will have a second guide to video for examples and reassure while working in a small or one on one group setting. Having the right amount of chart paper needed to provide the daily visual guides my second language learners need to gain as much knowledge as they can through images is essential in my teaching. Headphones will provide a listening aid to all of my students, especially the ones that highly benefit from read aloud a during test taking. Headphones will also provide relaxation during reading time when they are allowed to use computers as a resource for reading.
