My Students
Have you ever gone to school in a foreign country and not been able to speak the language, or not very well? On top of that you are trying to learn math, English, history and other subjects, not only to improve yourself, but to pass the state mandated tests and graduate.
My students are English Language Learners who attend a high need, diverse school in Massachusetts.
They eagerly learn English and all the other subjects to improve their lives and build a future for themselves. They use a variety of strategies to learn math, English, history, science and other subjects, including visual learning strategies.
My Project
My students recently received a document camera from DonorsChoose.org - THANK YOU. Now they need a projector to have the material, teacher's resources, student work and other documents projected onto the screen for ALL students to see. There are so many creative strategies to help the English Language Learners learn English and math with a document camera and projector. The students can observe multi-layered documents such as a map on top of an XY plane so they can learn distance, direction, geometry, vectors and more. Beyond this all students can observe the teacher demonstrating solutions and techniques to solving equations, as well as share their own solutions.
The projector will stay in the classroom and will be used in English Language Learners classes for many years to come.
It will support students learning by impacting their ability to master concepts, learn English and gain confidence in all they do. Seeing is Believing; Seeing is Learning; Seeing is the Path to Success.
