Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at our school are a special group of middle school students. If you have ever met a middle school student then you know that often they are filled with an amount of energy and curiosity that, if tapped, could power a small town. Many of my students' families struggle to support their child's well being and significant numbers of my students are recent immigrants. Our school is faced with meeting the needs of a diverse student population that is consistently struggling financially and academically at-risk.
This has not hampered our students eagerness and desire to learn and our teachers' devotion to teach, but our school needs as much help as it can get.
Many of these students struggle to make it to class on-time because they are either trying to get their younger siblings ready for their school. Many of my students are often a major caregiver for their younger siblings.
My Project
This multi-function printer will make a difference in my classroom because I like to try to print my materials that will be hung in my classroom in color. We all know that sitting in a classroom can be boring. While I recently got a new printer that prints black and white I understand that some of my materials need to be in color. They just need to be. Students need to see what is going around them in color. They need to see what a papaya looks like in color, they should also be allowed to print what the covers they are doing for their book reports in color if they like. I also can not tell you how much a scanner will help me out. Scanning worksheets will help me make so many different packets.
