This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
One of the best things about our Marine Science Academy is that the students get to leave the classroom and use what they learn in the real world.
I teach sixth, seventh and eighth grade students at a middle school in a large, urban school district.
Many of my students are enrolled in our Marine Science Academy where they learn about marine life and how to be good stewards of the environment. My students have all been identified as having learning disabilities that impact their ability to be successful in their classes.
My Project
I am requesting binoculars, bird guides, a bird identification poster and a digital camera so that our students can do a more thorough and accurate count of marine birds when we take our trips to the beach. My students love to learn about the ocean and the animals that live near it. Having these materials will allow them to recognize more birds and record and share what they see.
Many of my students don't have access to enrichment activities outside of school.
It is important to me that I provide them with high quality materials and experiences in school. Thank you so much for helping me and my students.
