Located on a steep hilltop, our continuation high school overlooks a panoramic view of downtown. Students who have not been successful at traditional high schools find success and the project based programs prepare students for the real world, building essential life skills. Students choose from projects that focus on music, theater, outdoor education and environment: all with a social justice focus. Service learning is an essential element at our school.
Students are exploring health and nutrition as they work in the urban school garden.
My Project
Students are just starting the school year as they head out to the container garden on the playground. They will weed and then select seeds to plant. Their focus this semester in healthy eating and nutrition. They will research healthy foods, best plants for our foggy weather and recipes.
Students want to grow healthy food in the school urban garden.
They plan to create and add markers for each plant. They will also create a board for the main hall with a drawing of the plants that are ready to be harvested and eaten. The display will also include a recipe for other students.
