Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our first-grade students are ready to move beyond simply observing plants and start acting as real botanical scientists and engineers! We are launching a multi-week investigation where every student will grow, document, and care for their own plant from seed.

While the enthusiasm is certainly sprouting, we desperately need the proper tools such as a variety of seeds, high-quality potting dirt, dedicated journals, and kid-sized watering cans to make this a truly data-driven science unit.

These materials will transform basic lessons into an authentic, hands-on scientific challenge.

Your donation will empower our little learners to embrace the scientific method. Students will use their journals and small rulers to practice measurement and data collection, tracking plant height, counting leaves, and documenting changes over time. They will also think like engineers by designing efficient watering strategies with their watering cans. This project fosters responsibility, sharpens essential math skills, and helps our students dig into the fundamentals of the plant life cycle and sustainability, watching their curiosity grow along with their seeds.

Ms. Kibby will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by February 16.
