This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school has a small garden area that we have been working on. It is growing and we are adding additional garden beds and raised beds. Now we need seeds to fill all those beds up.

I love when my younger students come out to recess and instead, want to work in the garden.

They will come say "Ms. Lu-an can we help in the garden?" It doesn't matter if it is pulling weeds, watering, planting, or picking vegetable to eat right away, they are enjoying every minute they have out there.

We now need seeds to plant. The students are learning so much about how to grow stuff and take care of their area. They also enjoy picking, washing, and eating the harvest right away. It is a win for them. They get to have fun and eat healthy snacks. These small things make such a big impact that some don't realize. Even student behavior will change if you tell them they have to work hard in class in order to work in the garden.
