My students need a new classroom computer to make sparkling images appear through our existing projector!

My Students
My classroom is located on the southwest side of Chicago and is filled with highly motivated students who love to explore topics in great detail. Biology and Biotechnology are both thoroughly engaging subjects, but often times the students need to model abstract content and use technology to deepen their understanding.
One of the easiest ways for my students to view scientific models, microscopic organisms, molecular structure, and much more is through imagery.
The ability to pull up these images on a computer and project them to the classroom is an essential element of any science classroom.
My students love to engage with the world around them - some of which they can see and some of which they need to rely on me to show them. The need to view scientific imagery, review graphs (many of which are student created), video clips - all are vital to the success of my classroom.
My Project
I am requesting a new laptop computer to use in my classroom. The subjects of Biology and Biotechnology often focus on microscopic concepts that are difficult for students to understand without visual images and context. In addition to the use of this as a projection tool, this computer will also be available for use in the classroom during internet research, tutoring, and any other times where students might need use of this resource.
In my classroom, students frequently give PowerPoint presentations (or similar) to the class on long term research projects, so having a dependable computer would be a great asset.
Additionally, we often use a computer/LCD projector to display graphs, molecular models, cell models, short video clips to help students conceptualize some of the more abstract content.
Not all of my students have access to a computer with internet access at home, so projecting images in class may be the only time they are able to bring these abstract concepts to life. Please help them see the science!
